Happy New Year

The new year brings so much excitement to us at the store - our yearly calendar is filling fast and we hope that all of you are a part of it !  January brings our 1st crop of the year, February we will be teaching at Creating Keepsakes Convention in Portland and right after that is the Northwest Shop Hop !!  How is that for a festive start to the year !

New teachers and classes are being set up now - we have two new  fabulous teachers, Jan & Suzanne, who bring great artistic concepts to our teaching team. Kim has tons of card classes already on the calendar - check them out !  Tonya is setting up her Cricut Club for 2010 = tons of new ideas. Jodie has an expoding box class on the calendar too - perfect for all of your holiday photos !! JoAnne is doing something fantastic for Valentines day - can't wait to see it !

I have a layout of the month album club that I want to start up - make 2 double page layouts each month.  I did this when Nancy had Paper Artz and the class was full - join us for a great time the first Wednesday of each month !!  If you participate for the entire year you will have 24 pages done and ready to go into your album.

We will be finishing up the painting process which is hard when we are open every day - but we will get it done !!  New banners and store signs will be up this weekend - check it out !!!

Happy New year to everyone - Stay safe if you are going out tonight - Jodie told me to tell you she will be at the store tomorrow - open all day !!!  I will be there painting and putting out Valentines papers -

Just finishing up Christmas wrapping

Do you love wrapping paper like I do , with LOTS of ribbons & bows ????? I seem to gravitate to the vintage or more traditional papers and Mac goes right for the colors !  I found great vintage paper at Costco this year and wired ribbon with music and angels on it and that was perfect for several relatives of mine..... For the kids , multi colored trees in purple, orange, lime green and turquoise ~~ One year I used a fantastic houndstooth red and cream paper - loved it and wish I would have bought mroe.  Not sure of where I even got it but loved the look of it all matching under the tree.

Working on some glass candle holders - using my Ultimate Glue and glitter to make the trees on the glass so when you light the candle inside it GLOWS !!  Dont' let the secret out , it is for some family members for Christmas !!

Tomorrow night more chex mix - when it cools I add green and red M & M's - Chanel and Mackenzie love it !!!

Store stuff - look for a super sale coming Saturday " boxing day " the day after Christmas - you will need to bring a box to carry your goodies home - check your emails and the blog tomorrow night !!!

Adopt a Family - we did !!

At my weekday job we adopt a family from United Way every Christmas. This year we had a family of a Dad who lost his job, Mom who went to work at a fast food chain to make ends meet and three girls - 8, 7 and 3 years old. We got a list from them on things they would like and went shopping !!! We have a Santa suit and an elf costume so Pat and Colleen dressed up and took all the gifts to the family - 32 boxes of Christmas goodness, three stockings and gift cards too ! The looks on the girls faces ( neighbors too ) when Santa and his elf drove up to the house - smiles, laughter and a few happy tears !!!

Such a fabulous treasure - a smile from a little 3 year old , Santa came to her house !!! Joy ~~~

Cranberry Orange Shortbread Cookies

These have to be the best shortbread cookies I have ever had and wanted to share with all of you !! They are perfect for the holidays ~~

Dried cranberries and orange zest make this shortbread extra-flavorful and festive for the holidays.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
10 tablespoons softened butter
1/2 cup confectioners' sugar
finely grated zest of 1 orange
Preparation:
Preheat oven to 325°.
In a food processor, pulse the cranberries with the flour until cranberries are finely chopped. This will take a few minutes, and make sure you have the processor opening well covered. Or, finely chop the cranberries by hand or using a chopper, then stir into the flour.

Combine the flour and cranberry mixture, the soft butter, sugar, and orange zest. Stir until blended and you have a soft dough. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. With a lightly floured rolling pin, roll out the dough to about 1/4-inch (or slightly more) thickness. Cut out with cookie cutters or use a sharp knife and cut into strips. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet or a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or silicone mat. Prick the cookies in a few places with a fork.

Bake for 20 minutes, or until just lightly browned on the bottoms.

Makes about 1 1/2 to 2 dozen cookies, depending on size.

Creating Keepsakes Sponsors :)

Okay I can hardly contain myself, can't wait any longer - can you hear me smiling !!! Fabulous Cosmo Cricket and Marvelous Bazzill will be our paper sponsors for the classes we will be teaching in Portland @ Creating Keepsakes !!! We have received confirmation from both companies and are so happy to spread the word ~~~
